KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Kuwait Songchai Chaipatiyut expressed his deep gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, and the entire leadership of Kuwait for the friendship and support for Thailand and its embassy here. In his speech at his farewell reception with media representatives, Ambassador Chaipatiyut pointed out that the past month witnessed the visit of two high-level Thai delegations to Kuwait. The advisor to the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs in Thailand led the first delegation, while the deputy permanent secretary for foreign affairs headed the second delegation and co-chaired the second session of political consultations between Thailand and Kuwait. He added that the visit of two high-level Thai delegations within a week proves the importance that his country attaches to its relations with Kuwait.

He asserted that relations between the two countries, spanning more than 63 years, continue to grow. He disclosed that the two countries are also keen on forming a joint committee co-chaired by their respective foreign affairs ministers. He is hoping that the agreement will be signed soon to provide a stronger framework for advancing bilateral cooperation. He said a number of senior Kuwaiti officials and dignitaries will visit Thailand to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Bangkok on Oct 12-18. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Kuwaiti leadership to ensure the safety of citizens and residents, stressing that this means a lot to the 1,080 Thai nationals who consider Kuwait their second home. He stated “my time here is short, but Kuwait made me feel right at home.” He explained that relations between nations are also built through people -- those who travel, study, conduct business and form friendships.
