KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: Amani Al Hajji is a trailblazer like no other because she dared tread a path that no one in the Gulf had earlier. Amani is the first female opera singer from the Arabian Gulf. She sings Italian, Russian, German, French and English with effortless ease. It has not been an easy journey for her.

For a girl from a conservative Kuwaiti family to sing on stage, let alone sing opera was unprecedented. But she persisted.
