Temperatures Set To Plunge As Cold Wave Approaches Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: Meteorologist Issa Ramadan has warned that a strong cold wave is expected to affect Kuwait, the wider region, and the Arabian Peninsula beginning on Saturday evening, January 3, 2026. The cold spell will be driven by the advance of a cold high-pressure system, accompanied by moderate to occasionally brisk northwesterly winds, which are expected to significantly intensify the feeling of cold.

Ramadan explained that the effects of the cold wave will become more pronounced during the late night and early morning hours, when temperatures are forecast to drop sharply. In some areas, particularly inland and desert regions, temperatures may fall to near or even below the freezing point.

He added that the cold conditions will intensify further by Sunday morning, with a noticeable additional drop in temperatures. The chilly weather is expected to persist for several consecutive days, keeping daytime and nighttime temperatures well below seasonal averages. Gradual improvement in weather conditions is anticipated toward the end of the week, as temperatures slowly begin to rise.

Authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions, especially during the early morning hours, and to remain updated with official weather advisories.
