‘Teach children road etiquette’

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Director General of the General Traffic Department at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier General Omar Al-Sari affirmed that the Gulf Traffic Week, with the slogan “Cross Safely”, is a valuable opportunity to solidify traffic safety concepts and raise awareness on its role in protecting lives and properties. Al-Sari pointed out that the event, which started on Sunday and will end on Saturday, is significant as it is being held under the exceptional circumstances that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are currently facing. He said this necessitates intensified efforts and focus on road safety, adding that this occasion coincided with World Traffic Day on May 4. He stated

that heightened awareness is reflected in the commitment of motorists (citizens and residents) to abide by the traffic regulations, adherence to instructions and civilized driving behavior. He considers this a positive development in terms of road safety and smooth traffic flow. He indicated that the high level of traffic awareness in society is a manifestation of the progressive and civilized image of the country. He emphasized the crucial role played by families in instilling traffic discipline in children, thus, contributing to raising a responsible generation that fully abides by traffic rules. He confirmed that the department continues to implement its awareness and training initiatives for various groups, in cooperation with the entire society. He added that the department is currently focusing on facility safety and the need to adhere to the designated crossing locations and traffic lights due to their impact in preventing accidents, as well as promoting a safer traffic environment.
