DUBAI, Aug 30: A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting inbound through the Strait of Hormuz, according to an advisory issued by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
UKMTO said it received a late report of the incident, which occurred approximately 12 nautical miles north of Khasab, Oman, at around 2053 UTC on August 29.
No casualties or environmental impact have been reported so far, while authorities are investigating the incident.
UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to the maritime coordination centre.
The advisory was issued on August 30, 2026, with the information attributed to military authorities.
