MUSCAT, Sep 1: A tanker was struck by three unidentified projectiles while completing an outbound transit of the Strait of Hormuz, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in an advisory.
The incident occurred about 17 nautical miles east of Khasab, Oman, according to the advisory issued at 2000 UTC on August 31.
No casualties or environmental impact were reported following the incident.
Authorities are investigating the attack.
UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to the maritime security agency.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in and around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route.
