MUSCAT, Nov 4: A tanker was struck by two unidentified projectiles in its engine room, approximately 14 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman, on Tuesday, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
UKMTO said it received a report from the vessel's Company Security Officer confirming that the tanker had been hit by two projectiles.
No casualties or environmental damage have been reported following the incident.
UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The incident adds to security concerns over maritime navigation in the region, with commercial shipping operators urged to remain vigilant.
