KUWAIT CITY, Jan 7: Serbian and Croatian coaches Dragan Talajic and Dalibor Starkevic are fovourites to take over Al-Qadisiya.

Talajic, with prior coaching experience at Kuwait Club in the 2011-2012 season, emerges as the frontrunner for the coaching role. Born on August 25, 1965, in Sarajevo, Talajic transitioned from a playing career as a goalkeeper to a successful coaching career. In the 2010-2011 season, he garnered accolades such as the best coach in Asia, the best coach in the Arab countries by Al Jazeera Sports Channel, and the best coach in the Arab countries for the 2010-2011 season by the Middle East Television Center. He was also recognized as the best coach in Jordan in the 2010-2011 season through votes from the public and the press.

Talajic has previously led various clubs, including Riffa, East Riffa, Al-Nahda, Youth of Jordan, Al-Ittihad, Kalba Union, Dhofar, Muangtong United, Al-Faisaly, Henan Jianye, Al-Tai, Khalidiya, and the Bahrain Football Association.

Al-Qadisiya  is currently in search of a coach to guide the team for the remainder of the ongoing season, following the decision of coach Mohamed Ibrahim to step down due to recent health issues. Ibrahim, also known as “The General,” visited the team’s camp to boost morale before the last two matches in the Zain League, where he emphasized the need for maximum effort from the players.

Due to health concerns, Ibrahim will be heading to London for further eye examinations after suffering a stroke last December. Expressing his desire not to continue as the head of the technical staff, Ibrahim has urged the club to begin the search for a new coach. The announcement of the successor to “The General” is expected within the next two days, with negotiations involving Croatian Ante Micha, compatriot Dalibor, and Spanish Franco.
