KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: Kuwait’s General Traffic Department has intensified its road monitoring efforts, confirming that Central Control Room cameras are fully operational and capable of detecting and recording serious traffic violations in real time at intersections.

During a live broadcast from the traffic operations room, Lieutenant Colonel Shaheen Al-Gharib of the Ministry of Interior highlighted key violations captured electronically and issued a firm reminder to motorists about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.

He explained that the cameras and control systems primarily focus on three major areas concerning public safety. Among them is the use of mobile phones while waiting at a red light, which is considered a violation since driving requires full attention even before the vehicle begins to move.

Lieutenant Colonel Al-Gharib also stressed that allowing children under 10 to sit in the front seat or failing to secure them in the back seat constitutes a serious offense, as it endangers their safety in case of an accident.

He further underscored the mandatory use of seatbelts for both drivers and front-seat passengers, describing it as an essential measure to safeguard lives and reduce injuries on Kuwait’s roads.
