KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: The ongoing investigation into the complex citizenship file continues to unveil surprising and intricate cases. The latest revelation concerns a Kuwaiti firefighter, who has been found to be of Syrian origin, both by birth and nationality, with his real father still alive and residing in Kuwait.
According to informed sources, the Nationality Investigations Department has referred this case to the relevant authorities for further investigation. The case involves a Syrian individual who obtained Kuwaiti citizenship through forgery, which was uncovered during a review of citizenship files following a tip-off.
The investigation revealed that the individual in question was granted Kuwaiti citizenship about a year after the Iraqi invasion. A suspicious entry in the citizenship file of a deceased Kuwaiti citizen triggered a deeper probe. The investigation led to the discovery of an elderly Syrian expatriate who resides in Kuwait on a residence permit. When questioned, he admitted that he had arranged for his son to be included in the citizenship file of his deceased Kuwaiti friend.
The Syrian father confessed that, shortly after the Iraqi invasion, he had asked his Kuwaiti friend to register his son under his citizenship file, not for any monetary compensation but to secure a better future for his son. As a result, the son was able to complete his education, join the fire department, and enjoy all the privileges of Kuwaiti citizenship, even reaching the point of early retirement.
The sources confirmed that the father's presence in Kuwait was key to uncovering the fraud, as it would have been nearly impossible to piece together the details without him. The authorities investigating citizenship fraud are making significant efforts to follow all leads and thoroughly verify each case.
After completing the necessary procedures, an ambush was set up, and the forger was arrested while finalizing his early retirement. During questioning, he confessed to obtaining Kuwaiti citizenship through forgery, facilitated by his father’s friendship with the deceased citizen.
The Syrian father also confirmed during the investigation that there was no financial motive behind adding his son to the Kuwaiti citizenship file. It was done purely out of friendship. Original documents proving the son's Syrian nationality were seized, and both the father and son have been referred to the authorities for further investigation and legal action.
