Syrian man, driving stolen vehicle, held for threatening police officer

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: Police have arrested a Syrian who was allegedly armed with a cleaver and threatened to attack a GTD police officer, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily said, the man behind the wheel resisted arrest and pulled out a cleaver. However, he was overpowered and arrested while the man in the passenger seat escaped on foot.

The security source added, the suspect was allegedly driving a vehicle stolen from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh which belongs to an Egyptian, and he was arrested just an hour after the theft was reported. The source said during interrogation the suspect has admitted to stealing vehicles and said this was the third vehicle he stole. The Public Prosecutor has charged him with attempting to kill an officer, speeding, stealing vehicles and resisting arrest.
