A Syrian and an Iraqi caught begging

KUWAIT CITY, March 15:  Two women — a Syrian and an Iraqi — were arrested for begging inside commercial complexes. According to security sources, Ahmadi Security Director Brigadier Abdullah Safa formed a security team to arrest beggars and violators of law. During inspections, Ahmadi securitymen noticed two women dressed in ‘Abaya’ and begging for money from shoppers at a commercial complex, claiming that they do not have food to feed their children. Securitymen checked the details of the women to discover one is a Syrian and the other is an Iraqi. Both had arrived in Kuwait on visit visas with the intention of beggary. They were arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them. Meanwhile, six Jordanian women and a Bangladeshi man were arrested for begging in front of mosques and commercial complexes under the pretext of suffering from illnesses.

Duo caught drunk: Security operatives arrested two drunken citizens in Ahmadi area and seized two bottles of imported gin in their possession. A security source said the officers spotted a vehicle in Ahmadi area during their routine patrol, and ordered the driver to stop for checking due to erratic manner by which the vehicle was moving. As the motorist alighted from the car with his companion, security operatives smelt liquor from their breath and discovered they were heavily intoxicated. They went ahead to conduct a search in their vehicle and found two bottles of imported gin. They were referred to relevant authorities.

Officer injured: A Flight Lieutenant Officer of the Air Force sustained serious injuries when his vehicle toppled on Kabad Road and crashed into a fence. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the accident, securitymen, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the location, rescued the victim from the toppled vehicle and checked his details to discover he is a Flight Lieutenant Officer of the Air force. Paramedics rushed the victim to the nearest hospital where he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit
