Syrian Expat in Coma After ‘Bed Fall’; Kuwait CID Investigates Possible Foul Play

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: The Ministry of Interior has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the critical injury of a Syrian expatriate in his fifties after authorities questioned the account given by his daughter regarding how he fell into a coma.

According to a security source, a government hospital alerted the Ministry of Interior operations room after the expatriate was admitted in an unconscious state and placed in the intensive care unit following what was reported as a fall from a height.

Security personnel immediately went to the hospital and questioned the man’s daughter, who reportedly told investigators that her father had fallen from a bed. She said she was alerted by his cries for help and rushed him to the hospital for medical treatment.

However, the explanation raised doubts among authorities, as investigators found that the circumstances surrounding the injury did not appear fully convincing. The source said all possibilities are being considered, including the possibility of foul play, and that investigators are working to determine whether the fall occurred as described or whether another incident led to the expatriate’s condition.

The source explained that the condition of the injured man and his ability to provide information once his health improves will play an important role in verifying the details of the incident.

Authorities stressed that the case will be handled seriously, with specialized teams capable of determining the exact cause of the injuries, including whether they resulted from a simple fall from a limited height or from another cause.

The Criminal Investigation Department has been assigned to reopen the investigation and conduct further inquiries with the daughter, the expatriate’s wife, and any other individuals who may have been present at the location when the incident occurred.

Investigators are continuing efforts to uncover the full circumstances behind the incident and establish whether the injury was accidental or involved any criminal act.
