KUWAIT CITY, May 9: The General Department of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Jahra Investigations Department, in coordination with the Jahra Municipality, foiled an illegal operation involving the exploitation of natural resources in the Al-Salmi desert area, leading to the arrest of four suspects accused of stealing and illegally selling soil extracted from state land.

According to the Ministry of Interior, authorities launched an investigation after receiving information about unauthorized dredging and soil extraction activities taking place in the area. Specialized teams immediately carried out search and surveillance operations before conducting a joint field raid in coordination with municipal authorities.

During the operation, security forces seized two heavy machines allegedly used to extract and transport sand from the site. Four individuals were arrested while reportedly managing the illegal activity and carrying out unauthorized sales operations.

The ministry said one suspect was a Syrian national, two were Egyptians, while the fourth was a Bangladeshi national who was found to be wanted in connection with arrest warrants and a missing persons report.

The suspects, along with the confiscated equipment, were referred to the competent authorities for legal action.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that it will not tolerate any encroachment on state property or the illegal exploitation of Kuwait’s natural resources, affirming that strict legal measures will continue to be taken against violators.
