KUWAIT CITY, Sep 12: In a joint operation, the Ministry of Interior and the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, with support from the Kuwait Municipality and other concerned authorities, arrested two suspects (a Syrian and an Indian) after uncovering an illegal food manufacturing operation inside a rented house in Mishref.
Investigations revealed that the suspects had converted the residence into a facility for producing and selling adulterated food products. They were found mixing oils with other ingredients, repackaging them, and selling the items as locally produced ghee. Authorities also discovered that the suspects had altered the country of origin labels on certain products, falsely marketing them as imported goods, in addition to selling other consumer items in violation of the law.
The operation resulted in the seizure of the site and all adulterated goods. The suspects were referred to the competent authorities for legal action and deportation procedures.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition recorded the following violations:
- Operating a food establishment without the necessary approval or health license.
- Failing to meet sanitation standards and hygiene requirements.
- Packaging food products without obtaining a refilling license.
The Kuwait Municipality also issued violations for misusing the property for unlicensed purposes.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that this action reflects its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring consumer safety by cracking down on fraud and food tampering. It also praised the effective cooperation between the Ministry, the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, and other regulatory bodies, highlighting the importance of integrated efforts to maintain food safety and protect the community.
