KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Special Olympics Kuwait actively participated in an advanced regional training course designed for chief swimming coaches of the Special Olympics. The event, organized by the regional presidency of the International Special Olympics and the Saudi Special Olympics, took place at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex, drawing representation from 14 Arab countries. Ahmed Rashwan, the chief swimming coach of the Kuwaiti Special Olympics, represented Kuwait in this significant course.

The comprehensive four-day training covered various aspects, including an introduction to the Special Olympics and its official competitions, division in competitions, the critical role of swimming and its significance for individuals with intellectual disabilities, the teacher’s role in handling players with intellectual disabilities, the selection process, and addressing common mistakes in education with corrective strategies.

Rehab Bouresli, the National Director of Special Olympics Kuwait, expressed appreciation for the course’s content and highlighted its positive impact on developing the capabilities of the technical staff involved in the Special Olympics. She emphasized the importance of staying abreast of developments in the training field.

Bouresli extended gratitude to the Saudi Special Olympics, acknowledging Dr. Maha Al-Juffali, President of the Olympics, Abdul Rahman Al-Quraishi, the National Director, and all members for their support. She commended the ambitious Saudi program for hosting a series of courses aimed at advancing and improving the Special Olympics system and activities.
