Doubt on character: The Egyptian veterinarian who killed his Lebanese wife by stabbing her several times has been referred to hospital after he slit his wrist in an attempt to commit suicide, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources, the culprit had explained to securitymen that he suspected the behavior of his wife after he saw two men leaving the building. He was filled with suspicion when he did not find his three children in the house. He then presented the Quran to his wife to swear that none of the two men was with her. Feeling very humiliated, the woman had refused to give in to such suspicions and went to the kitchen and brought the knife.

The culprit claimed that he was defending himself when he attacked her with a bottle. When she fell on the floor, he stabbed her several times out of rage.

Meanwhile, Al-Rai daily reported that the three children have been referred to the Social Welfare Home.

Sources said the children do not have any relatives in Kuwait to care for them.

Family dispute cause: Investigations conducted by securitymen concerning the fire that erupted in a house in Sabah Al-Ahmad area and resulted in the death of a Kuwaiti citizen and his 11-month old niece led to the conclusion that the citizen himself had set the house on fire following a dispute with some members of the family, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to a security source, one of the family members said the victim doused a combustible material and the fire had spread very quickly. Those who were present in the house had managed to escape.

The traces of blood found in the car of the victim belong to him. Further investigations are ongoing.
