LOS ANGELES, Jan 30, (Agencies); A man suspected of robbing a bank in Georgia found an unexpected end to his escape when he was apprehended while sleeping on the floor of an unwitting woman's home. James Raborn, 27, was arrested by the Roswell Police Department (RPD) and charged with armed robbery, criminal trespass, and additional traffic offenses following a pursuit.
The alleged bank robbery occurred at Truist Bank on Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell, where Raborn reportedly passed a note to a teller, brandishing a gun and demanding money. The RPD received a call at 3:30 pm local time, 10 minutes after the incident, prompting additional detectives to swiftly identify suspect information through surveillance footage and technology resources.
License plate readers on E. Crossville Road led police to Raborn the next day, triggering a short vehicle pursuit. After fleeing the vehicle on foot, 29-year-old Emily Browning, a passenger, was found and charged with armed robbery as a "knowing participant."
Intensive search efforts, including K9 and drone teams, in the Mountain Park area guided detectives to Raborn's location using cell phone data. The suspect was discovered in an outbuilding on a nearby property, lying on the floor of a spare bedroom. The homeowner, unaware of Raborn's presence, cooperated with authorities, allowing for his peaceful arrest.
It was revealed that Raborn likely entered the residence through a kitchen window during the homeowner's absence. He was transported to Fulton County Jail, where he was booked on Thursday. Raborn and Browning are suspected to have been involved in multiple armed robberies in the Metro Atlanta area, according to police.
