On July 7 in Qingdao, Shandong Province, a woman named Ms. Jiang was shocked to find dozens of live chicks in her home upon her return from a two-day trip.

“I heard chirping the moment I reached the door—when I opened it, I was completely stunned!” she said. Inside, she discovered 40 to 50 chicks already hatched, with more still emerging from their shells. In total, 70 chicks hatched from 90 eggs she had previously left in cartons.

Ms. Jiang suspects the unusually high summer temperatures in Qingdao may have triggered the early hatching process. In response, she and her family quickly built a makeshift shelter for the chicks using old sweaters and fed them warm rice broth with a syringe.

Miraculously, all 70 chicks survived and are in good health. Ms. Jiang’s son has adopted two of them as pets, while the rest were sent to the family's rural hometown to be cared for by her parents.
