Sulaibikhat handball team wraps up Doha training camp

DOHA, Sept. 27: Sulaibikhat Club’s first-team handball squad has completed its overseas training camp in Doha, Qatar, with the delegation scheduled to return to Kuwait tomorrow, Monday.

The camp, which began on Sept. 18, featured intensive training sessions and three friendly matches against Al-Rayyan, Al-Ahli, and Al-Sadd. The games allowed the coaching staff to assess the players, improve their technical and physical fitness, and build greater cohesion within the squad ahead of the team’s upcoming commitments.

Sulaibikhat is preparing to complete the 2025-26 season while also laying the groundwork for the 2026-27 campaign. The club’s administrative and technical staff are targeting improved performances and stronger results in the coming period.

Team manager Hussein Saiwan said the Doha camp achieved its objectives, particularly in improving the players’ technical and physical readiness and allowing the coaching staff to evaluate the squad ahead of the upcoming competitions.

“The administrative and technical staff were keen to make the most of the camp through the friendly matches and daily training sessions,” Saiwan said. “The program helped strengthen understanding among the players and improve the team’s overall readiness, which should have a positive impact on our performances in the coming period.”

Saiwan also confirmed injuries to the team’s foreign players. French professional Nicolas Claire suffered a shoulder injury, while Brazilian player Biji sustained an ankle injury.

He added that the medical staff is working to treat both players and prepare them to return to training and be available before the start of the official domestic competitions.
