Female student's suicide at Lucknow University raises questions, police investigate.

INDIA, Jan 11: A female student from the College of Arts and Crafts, affiliated with Lucknow University, reportedly took her own life in her room at Tilak Hostel on campus. The tragic incident occurred as she hanged herself from a ceiling fan, and the entire event was recorded on her cellphone camera. The incident unfolded on Wednesday evening when two of her roommates were away. Upon their return, they discovered the room locked, prompting them, with the assistance of hostel staff, to break the windowpanes to gain access.

Authorities identified the deceased as a fifth-semester student pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts course and a resident of Prayagraj. The police were alerted to the situation and promptly arrived at the hostel, initiating an investigation. According to Additional DCP (Central) Manisha Singh, the student's body was brought down, and a post-mortem examination was scheduled. The police have informed the student's parents and local guardians about the tragic incident.

Preliminary reports suggest that the student may have taken this extreme step due to a dispute with an individual residing in Varanasi, potentially driven by frustration. The exact reason behind the tragedy remains unclear, and the police are actively probing the case to determine the circumstances leading to the young student's untimely death.
