Strong Winds and Dust Reduce Visibility Across Kuwait, Rain Possible

KUWAIT CITY, May 24: Kuwait is currently experiencing active dust-raising winds that have significantly reduced horizontal visibility in several areas, according to Acting Director of the Kuwait Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali.

Al-Ali said visibility has dropped to below 1,000 meters in some locations due to strong northwesterly winds exceeding 50 km/h, driven by a cold front moving in from the northwest.

He explained that the weather conditions are expected to persist until Monday afternoon, with continued dusty conditions, cloud formation, and a chance of rainfall, particularly over northwestern areas. Sea conditions are also expected to be rough with high waves.

The meteorological official noted that winds are likely to remain active and dust-raising during this period, but conditions are expected to gradually improve starting Monday evening, with visibility returning and winds easing to moderate northwesterly speeds.

Al-Ali urged the public to remain cautious, especially while driving in low-visibility areas, and to stay updated through official forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department via its website and mobile application.
