KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: The Embassy of India in Kuwait marked the 77th Republic Day of India on Monday, a momentous occasion in the nation’s calendar. Despite the chilly morning, hundreds of Indian nationals gathered at the embassy premises to participate in the celebration.

The event commenced at 8:30 a.m. with Ambassador-designate Paramita Tripathi paying floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, followed by the unfurling of the national flag and the singing of the Indian national anthem. On the occasion, Ms. Tripathi also read President Droupadi Murmu’s Republic Day address to the nation.

Extending heartfelt greetings to the Indian community in Kuwait, the ambassador emphasized the spirit of unity and pride that Republic Day represents for Indians across the world.

Ambassador’s Readout of the Indian President's Speech on the eve of the 77th Republic Day 2026

It was an honour to read out to all gathered here on this joyous occasion, Hon’ble Rashtrapatiji’s Address to the Nation delivered yesterday on the eve of the 77th Republic Day. You heard how India is making tremendous progress in diverse fields and how our 1.4 billion brothers and sisters are striving ahead and aiming high in this transformative journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047. Today, all over India and across the world, wherever there are Indians and friends of India, the tricolor is unfurled with pride.

This is my first Republic Day in Kuwait. I am honoured to unfurl the tricolor in Kuwait today amongst all of you, and I am happy to welcome you to the Embassy, your Embassy, to celebrate the 77th Republic Day of India.

I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support, your goodwill, and the immense warmth with which you have welcomed me in Kuwait.

The welfare and well-being of every member of the Indian community in Kuwait is our priority. The Embassy is always ready to extend all possible assistance to Indian nationals in need or distress. The Embassy, along with its four outsourcing facilitation centres, is providing consular assistance to Indian nationals in Kuwait. We have 24*7 helplines, social workers, and consular and labour wings for specific issues. I meet Indian nationals at the monthly Open House meetings for consular or labour-related issues.

In this effort, the Embassy is not alone. I thank the Kuwait Government for ensuring the well-being and safety of Indian nationals in Kuwait. It would be amiss on my part to not appreciate the good work being done by numerous associations, groups, and individuals for the betterment of the lives of fellow Indian nationals in Kuwait. Many community associations have been doing remarkable work by helping the community in Kuwait as well as in India such as by adopting and funding schools in the rural areas, sponsoring education of needy students.

I am happy to share that the Indian community is appreciated immensely for its contribution to the economy and society of Kuwait. When I meet Kuwaiti dignitaries, they praise the hard-working, intelligent, and skilled Indian professionals across diverse walks of life, from engineers to accountants to scientists to doctors, nurses, and teachers. It would surely be difficult to find a building in Kuwait, an oil company in Kuwait, or a household in Kuwait that would not have benefited from the large Indian workforce present here.

I would request my fellow Indian nationals to

1. Follow all local rules & regulations strictly, and be aware of changes or new rules introduced by the Kuwait and Indian Governments;

2. Promote the culture and heritage of India and its States, and ensure that your children are connected to their mother tongue, regional dance forms, cuisine, festivals and literature, especially through celebration of Statehood Days;

3. Focus on your health and physical fitness, by following a healthy lifestyle and diet;

4. Organize tree plantations under the ‘ek ped ma ke naam’ initiative and keep your neighbourhoods clean and green;

5. Register with Embassy through the link on the Embassy website, which will enable us to reach out to you in times of emergencies quickly.

I would like to remind you of important events this year in which we encourage your participation:

1. 150 years of Vande Mataram which is going on with different activities;

2. Bharat Mela on February 13 at the Beachfront of the Green Island;

3. International Day of Yoga on 21 June;

4. Blood Donation Camp on World Blood Donors' Day on 14 June

To conclude, as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi says, each one of you are the true Ambassadors of India and you are the face of India in this country.

I wish you a Happy Republic Day and wish all of you health, happiness and prosperity.

Jai Hind!
