Stricter regulations unveiled for real estate fairs
Kuwait tightens regulations on real estate payments to boost transparency and combat money laundering.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: In a move to tighten oversight of the real estate sector, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Real Estate Exhibitions Company and exclusive agent for Cityscape Kuwait, Eng. Meshal Al- Mulhem, announced the implementation of strict new regulations for organizing real estate exhibitions in the country. Under the new rules, brokerage and real estate companies are excluded from participation, and sales are prohibited in the exhibition. Eng. Al-Mulhem explained that the regulations reflect a clear effort to reorganize real estate exhibitions and regulate the market, particularly amid ongoing discussions on mortgage laws and developer regulations.

The regulations also ban the marketing of unlicensed land or timeshare projects, aiming to maintain public confidence and prevent crises that have previously affected investors. Participation will be limited to real estate developers only. This is intended to elevate the quality and legitimacy of showcased projects and prevent any practices that could undermine public trust. Developers are considered best positioned to present fully developed projects with clearly defined features that comply with all legal and regulatory requirements. All projects displayed at exhibitions will undergo prior review to ensure compliance with the law, in line with the government’s efforts to regulate the real estate market and protect consumers from potential risks.
