KUWAIT CITY, June 29: The General Traffic Department (GTD) referred 55 youths to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without a license and issued 19,407 traffic violation citations last week. The weekly statistics of the department revealed the impoundment of 30 vehicles and three motorcycles, referral of 24 individuals to the police for committing serious violations, 82 vehicles were seized, 26 persons wanted by law were arrested, along with 57 expatriates who hold expired residency permits, two persons in an abnormal condition and 26 who failed to present valid identification documents.

The statistics also indicated that the department dealt with 1,392 traffic accidents, including 199 collisions and injuries. Moreover, a security source warned parents against giving their young children vehicles, especially during summer vacation, stressing that under such circumstances, the parents or guardians expose themselves to legal accountability.
