Strategic Project Allocation: Northern Region and Mubarak Port in the Spotlight

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: While the Council of Ministers approved a draft decree regarding the fourth general structural plan for the State of Kuwait 2040, and submitted it to His Highness the Crown Prince, the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Communications Affairs Fahd Al-Shula confirmed that the project has a close connection with all the memorandums that were signed a few days ago with China, whether it is related to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port or renewable energy, as they are sites that are simultaneous and compatible with the plan, including also residential cities as well as the metro and railway, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Cabinet reviewed the visual presentation submitted by Al-Shula and municipal leaders regarding the project, which includes 4 regions — the Kuwait Urban Region, the Northern Regional Economic Region, the Southern Regional Region, and the Western Regional Region.

Al-Shula revealed, in a statement to Al-Rai, that the municipality intends to hold an extensive meeting with the authorities and institutions, to inform them of the components of the structural plan, after its approval and publication in the Official Gazette, especially 30 notes are attached to the project and what has been published is the useful summary, revealing that the priorities in implementing the projects will be for the northern economic region, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, and residential areas, in addition to distributing population density among the regions.

In turn, the head of the Municipal Council, Abdullah Al-Mahri, said in a statement to Al-Rai that the master plan will serve as a road map for building a “new Kuwait” in line with the huge development projects included in the government’s action plan, in addition to the memorandums of understanding that were signed with China, stressing the necessity of Immediate meetings should be held between the municipality and the rest of the government agencies to formulate general policy to implement the content of the plan.
