Stable 50 fils bread maintained through Kuwait gov’t backing

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: CEO of Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company (KFMBC) Mutlaq Al-Zaid says maintaining the price of Arabic bread at 50 fils is only possible with government support, revealing that the daily bread production volume ranged between 4.5 and 5 million pieces. In a press statement, he explained that the company is committed to supporting and stabilizing the prices of commodities required by the government.

The secret to maintaining this quality level lies in an integrated production process, including adherence to standards and certifications, the use of high-quality raw materials, and consistent quality maintenance.

The company launched a unique initiative to introduce its products to public school cafeterias. This year, the products of KFMBC were provided in three schools through a buffet system, including baked goods and juices.

The goal is to offer a different model that allows students to access healthy and balanced meals. Al-Zaid affirmed that the company is ready to expand if requested, despite the existence of approximately 900 government schools in Kuwait, which would require the involvement of other entities.

He revealed that demand for KFMBC’s products is high, as their prices are lower than those of imported products while maintaining high quality. Al-Zaid indicated that food prices in Kuwait are low compared to other countries, but without any negative impact on the production quality. He emphasized that the company is moving forward with its expansion plans through what are called “boutiques,” having opened branches in areas such as Yarmouk, Saad Al-Abdullah, and Fahad Al-Ahmad, as well as introducing new products, most notably coffee.

Al-Zaid explained that the company is keen to continuously introduce innovative products that keep pace with global trends. Its products are currently available in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and there are plans to expand further within the Gulf region and internationally. He stressed that KFMBC is capable of ensuring self-sufficiency for the local market in their basic products, emphasizing that the company has internal strategic plans focused on product development and meeting local market needs
