JAPAN, Jan 4: In Tokyo's Akihabara Station on Wednesday, a stabbing incident resulted in injuries to three men who were subsequently transported to the hospital, according to Japanese police.
The authorities received an emergency call just before 11 p.m. local time (1400 GMT), reporting that a woman had used a knife to inflict injuries on the Yamanote loop line, a bustling transport route in the city, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.
The woman was apprehended by law enforcement, and the condition of the three injured men remains unknown at this time, the spokesperson stated. While initial reports from NHK suggested four victims, Kyodo news agency has since reported that none of the injuries are life-threatening.
In response to the incident, the East Japan Railway Company temporarily suspended services on the Yamanote loop line, citing "trouble on the train."
Akihabara, traditionally known for its electronic and gadget retailers, has evolved into a prominent tourism destination in Tokyo, synonymous with video games, comic books, and distinctive fashion.
