Sri Lanka seeks return of 103 fugitives through Interpol red notices

COLOMBO, Feb 9, (Xinhua): Sri Lanka Police have issued Interpol red notices to secure the return of 103 criminal suspects currently residing overseas, a police spokesperson told the media on Sunday.

Police spokesperson F. U. Wootler said authorities have already brought three wanted individuals back to the country so far this year. He added that law enforcement agencies also confiscated property worth 50 million Sri Lankan rupees (about 162,000 U.S. dollars) belonging to suspects who committed crimes and fled abroad. Police said efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining fugitives and recover additional assets linked to criminal activities overseas.
