Spike in coronavirus infection; 1,517 infected

KUWAIT CITY, April 7: Kuwait said that 1,517 people tested positive for coronavirus while six related deaths were reported on Wednesday, taking the total up to 241,469 and 1,379, respectively, according to the health ministry. Another 1,325 people were cured of the virus, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 226,026, ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told KUNA. The number of people hospitalized with the virus currently stands at 14,064, with 207 of them in intensive care units, he added, revealing that some 10,095 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 2,121,475. He went on to urge nationals and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus. (KUNA)
