Spanish Embassy helps citizens leaving Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, March 12: The Spanish Embassy in Kuwait affirmed that it has been closely monitoring developments in the Gulf region since Feb 28, in coordination with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union (EU), EU embassies in the country and other members of the diplomatic corps. The embassy disclosed that it has updated its list of Spanish residents in Kuwait and its contact numbers, and expanded its emergency hotlines.

It organized trips from Kuwait to Riyadh International Airport using four buses on March 6-9 to transport Spanish citizens wishing to travel to Riyadh, in addition to other citizens from within and outside the EU. It stressed that the safety and wellbeing of Spanish citizens in Kuwait are its top priority, expressing its deepest condolences to the families of the Kuwaiti military and security personnel martyred in the line of duty.

It also expressed its gratitude to the Kuwaiti authorities for their efforts in protecting the citizens and residents in Kuwait. It added that it continues to operate in the country and will gradually restore the full range of its consular services as conditions permit. It is worth mentioning that the Spanish government strongly condemned the indiscriminate and unjustified attacks on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations and other countries in the region. It also supports the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns these attacks.
