KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20: Maan Razouki, the former CEO of Kuwait Airways, was honored with the Medal of Civil Merit by Spain in recognition of his significant efforts and contributions to fostering closer ties between Spain and Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait, Miguel Moro Aguilar, commended Razouki's outstanding performance during his tenure as the leader of Kuwait Airways in recent years. He highlighted that despite the strong bilateral relations between the two nations, direct flights had been absent for four decades since the last direct flight in the eighties.
He also mentioned the numerous Kuwaitis visiting Spain annually and purchasing real estate, considering them loyal tourists to Spain. However, they had to travel through other airlines and countries due to the lack of direct flights.
Aguilar acknowledged Razouki's role in reopening the direct flight route between Madrid and Kuwait during his tenure, making it a highly sought-after travel destination.
This reopening facilitated an influx of 100,000 Kuwaiti tourists during the summer, with expectations of increased travel due to visa facilities and diversified travel routes.
Expressing his gratitude, Razouki emphasized that the honor bestowed by the King of Spain was not just for him personally but for all Kuwaitis. He took pride in the robust bilateral relations shared between the two countries.
