Jodie Foster

LOS ANGELES, Jan 9: Jodie Foster may have just diminished her chances of receiving tips on going viral on TikTok. The "True Detective" star expressed her frustration with some of the work habits of Gen Z in an interview with The Guardian, published on Saturday.

In the interview, Foster described Gen Z's approach in the workplace as annoying, citing instances where they would casually decide to come in late or dismiss concerns about grammatical errors in emails. Foster humorously recounted their responses, with some saying, "Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m gonna come in at 10.30 am" and others questioning the need to check spelling, stating, "Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?"

While Foster seemed to be joking to some extent, her comments triggered a diverse range of reactions on social media. Some individuals on X (formerly Twitter) agreed with Foster, sharing similar sentiments about Gen Z's work habits, while others came to the defense of the younger generation.

It's important to note that Foster did not adopt a completely dismissive attitude towards Gen Z. She acknowledged and admired their tendency to challenge gender norms, highlighting her appreciation for nonbinary actor Bella Ramsey, who is 20 years old.

Foster revealed that she reached out to Ramsey for a specific reason. She asked Ramsey to introduce her at an event for Elle magazine, praising Ramsey's ability to challenge conventional notions of femininity. Foster emphasized the importance of showcasing diverse ways of being a woman beyond traditional expectations, citing Ramsey's impactful speech at the event. According to Foster, Ramsey wore a perfectly tailored suit, embraced a middle parting, and chose not to wear any makeup, challenging the typical fashion standards often associated with such gatherings.
