Sayyid, Denil, Afsal and William awarded man of the match
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: KIFF League 4th week matches started on a wet rainy day. In the first match, Shifa Al Jazeera-sponsored Soccer Kerala beat FC Sparx 3-0. From the start Soccer Kerala took control of the match, with some deft touches pressurizing the opponents’ goal.
Sayyid, Shafeek and Vaseem scored for Soccer Kerala. Sayyid was awarded the man of the match presented by NFC engineer Abdul Sattar.
In the second match, hot favourites United Goan Centre outplayed Santos United. Denil of UGC was brilliant on the day, controlling the midfield and allowing the strikers to score at will. Santos United had no answer to the pressure inserted by UGC, succumbing to a huge 6-1 defeat. Denil, Rahul, Ishard, Sibin and Ranjith scored for UGC while Jelito pulled one back for Santos United.
Denil was awarded the man of the match award presented by KEFAK founding member Abdul Razak.
In the third match Goa Maroons took control of the group defeating Pen Friends United 2-0. Goa Maroons – showcasing youngsters in the team, knowing the importance of the match – started brightly scoring their first goal from a corner kick. From then on Goa Maroons kept missing chances to increase the lead. However they scored once again in the second half to go clear to top of the group.
Rony and Ashley scored for Goa Maroons. Youngster Afsal of Goa Maroons was awarded the man of the match award presented to him by AIFF certified coach Mubarak Yusuf.
AVC took on Indian Strikers in the last match of the day. AVC started the match knowing fully well that it was a do-or-die situation to stay in the hunt for qualification. Formidable ISFC had other ideas, they themselves looking for the win. ISFC started positively, but Ritish in the AVC defense was like a rock to beat. ISFC had chances to go ahead but have to blame themselves for missing the chances.
When everyone thought the match was going to end in a draw, dependable midfielder William of AVC scored thereby bringing smiles on their supporters’ faces.
William was awarded the man of the match award presented to him by AKFC President Mansoor.
