Snake swallows three golf balls in bizarre veterinary emergency

TEXAS, Sept 26: Veterinarians in Texas carried out an unusual rescue after a snake swallowed three golf balls, requiring the reptiles to carefully remove the objects without surgery.

South Texas Avian & Exotic Hospital shared video of the procedure on Tuesday, September 22, showing veterinarians carefully manipulating one of the golf balls and removing it from the heavily sedated snake.

The hospital said the procedure allowed the reptile to avoid surgery, despite having swallowed three golf balls.

“This was definitely a memorable case! You never quite know what’s going to come (slithering) through the doors in exotic animal medicine!” the hospital said in a social media post.

The veterinarians continued to monitor the snake following the procedure as part of its recovery.
