Sleuths nab Asian expats for embezzling revenues

KUWAIT CITY, April 13: Hawally detectives have closed a breach of trust case after arresting two Asian expatriates involved in embezzling the revenues of the company where they worked, before transferring the money abroad. According to security sources, the manager of a food company filed a report at Maidan Hawally police station, stating that the company had been the victim of embezzlement after the two suspects had embezzled approximately KD 1,800 of the company’s revenues over two months.

Following investigations and information gathering, suspicions were confirmed regarding the accused, leading to their arrest. Upon questioning, they confessed to the crime, explaining that they had taken the money and not deposited it into the accounting department, but rather transferred it out of the country. In the same context, a security source emphasized the importance of intensifying financial auditing and internal control procedures in companies, especially regarding daily revenue transactions, to reduce such crimes and ensure the quick detection of any irregularities.
