AMMAN, Jun 21: Jordanian authorities executed six men at dawn on Sunday after they were convicted in cases involving the killing of 10 law-enforcement officers, officials said.
Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said the men had been convicted in two terrorism-related cases and three drug bust operations. Three of those executed had been convicted of terrorism.
“We have carried out the execution of six men who were convicted of murdering 10 law-enforcement officers in two terrorism-related cases and three drug bust operations,” Momani said.
The minister said the executions were carried out after rulings issued by the State Security Court were upheld by the Court of Cassation, and after all constitutional and legal procedures had been completed.
Momani added that the executions were conducted under the supervision of the State Security Court attorney general, in accordance with Article 359 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
