KUWAIT CITY, Sept 16: Criminal Investigation Department officers have arrested a six-member gang of Asian expatriates accused of stealing electrical cables, copper wires and iron worth thousands of dinars from government buildings, homes and construction sites in Al-Mutlaa.

According to a security source, detectives spent several days monitoring theft reports and tracking the suspects before arresting them in a planned ambush. Large quantities of suspected stolen materials, including copper cables, wires and iron, were recovered from their possession.

Initial investigations reportedly showed that the suspects transported the stolen materials to the Amghara scrap yard, where they sold them by weight. The seized items have been secured pending inventory and comparison with theft reports. Detectives are also working to identify other locations targeted by the gang and determine whether additional individuals were involved in the thefts or disposal of the stolen goods. The suspects and seized materials will be referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
