Siri to get seven new features powered by Google Gemini
New Siri expected to answer questions, offer emotional support, and more.

NEW YORK, Jan 14:  Apple and Google this week announced that Google’s Gemini technology will help power a more personalized Siri, bringing seven new features to the virtual assistant, according to a report by The Information.

The revamped Siri, expected to launch with iOS 26.4 in March or April, will include the following new capabilities:

  • Answer more factual and world knowledge questions in a conversational manner.
  • Tell stories.
  • Provide emotional support.
  • Assist with more tasks, including booking travel.
  • Create documents in the Notes app with information, such as cooking recipes.
  • Recall knowledge of past conversations.
  • Offer proactive suggestions based on information from apps, such as Calendar.

Apple has already announced that the personalized Siri will have improved understanding of a user’s personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. Demonstrations have shown Siri assisting users with questions about family members’ flight and lunch reservations using information from the Mail and Messages apps.

The report noted that the latest prototype of the enhanced Siri carries no Google or Gemini branding, allowing Apple to fine-tune the model to ensure it responds according to its standards.

Apple first previewed the personalized Siri at WWDC 2024. While most features are expected in iOS 26.4, some may not arrive until iOS 27.
