Halsey

LOS ANGELES, June 5: Grammy-nominated singer Halsey has opened up about her health struggles, revealing that she feels "lucky to be alive." In a recent Instagram post, the 29-year-old artist hinted at being diagnosed with lupus and leukaemia, although she did not provide specific details about her conditions.

Accompanied by a series of photos and videos from her hospital stay, Halsey expressed gratitude for her life, stating, "Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive." Alongside this revelation, she also announced her forthcoming fifth studio album and released its lead single, "The End."

In her Instagram post, Halsey reflected on her health journey, sharing her determination to overcome her health challenges. "I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick," she said, adding, "When I'm 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not going to be sick. I’m going to look super hot and have lots of energy and get to redo my 20s in my 30s."

The singer-songwriter, known for hits like "Closer" with The Chainsmokers and her platinum-certified debut album "Badlands," has been candid about her health struggles in the past. She revealed that her health deteriorated during her pregnancy with her son, Ender, in 2021. Halsey has previously battled conditions such as endometriosis, Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, Sjogren's syndrome, and mast cell activation syndrome.

In her latest post, Halsey tagged organizations like the Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society, hinting at her current treatments for lupus and leukaemia. Her new song also alludes to her medical journey, referencing "poison" in her blood and beginning treatment.

Leukaemia, a type of cancer affecting white blood cells, is typically treated with chemotherapy. Lupus, on the other hand, is a complex autoimmune disease that affects various parts of the body and can be life-threatening. Symptoms include extreme fatigue, skin rashes, and joint pain.

After sharing her health update, Halsey received an outpouring of support from fans, with her post garnering over a million likes and thousands of comments.
