LOS ANGELES, Nov 25: Rising Latin music star and social media influencer Maria De La Rosa, known professionally as DELAROSA, was shot dead early Saturday in an ambush-style attack in the Northridge neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities said. Two others were critically injured.

The shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on Bryant Street in the San Fernando Valley. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, witnesses saw two male suspects approach a parked vehicle on foot and open fire on its occupants.

“Multiple rounds were fired at several victims who were parked in the area in their vehicle,” the LAPD said in a Monday statement. “Three people were inside the car when the shooting began. All three were struck.”

DELAROSA, 22, was taken to a nearby hospital by a private party, but doctors were unable to save her. The two surviving victims remained in critical condition over the weekend. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released details about a possible motive.

Police suspect the attack may have been gang-related, but investigators have not confirmed whether it was targeted, random, or linked to a larger conflict.

DELAROSA had recently begun gaining recognition in the Latin music scene, releasing her single No Me Llames in August. She had more than 40,000 followers on Instagram, where fans expressed grief on her final post—a carousel of studio photos, including one showing her with an electric guitar captioned “Ocupada cocinando en el Stu” (“Busy cooking in the studio”).

Condolences came from across the music community, including Mexican-American record executive Jimmy Humilde and Juan Moises, lead singer of Los Gemelos de Sinaloa. Producer and engineer Times J Martinez described DELAROSA as a “young and talented musician” and lamented the violent circumstances of her death.

The LAPD continues to canvass the area as the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
