Singaporeans Leave UAE for Muscat Under Embassy Supervision

ABU DHABI, Mar 6: The Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate-General in Dubai on Friday coordinated the safe evacuation of two groups of Singaporeans stranded in the United Arab Emirates amid regional tensions.

The groups were transported by bus from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Muscat, Oman, accompanied by embassy and consulate officers for the first leg of their journey. The evacuees are scheduled to depart tomorrow via an assisted departure flight from Muscat.

Ambassador Kamal R Vaswani and Consul-General Raziff Aljunied spoke briefly to the Singaporeans in Abu Dhabi and Dubai prior to their departure. "Many of them have gone through a challenging week trying to secure a flight home. We are glad that they will now be able to head home and wish them a safe flight and smooth journey ahead," said the Singaporean missions.

In Oman, the travelers will receive continuous support from the Singapore Embassy in Muscat and a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Crisis Response Team, ensuring their safety, well-being, and smooth processing before the chartered flight.

Officials said the coordinated operation reflects Singapore’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad during periods of regional instability, providing logistical, administrative, and consular support every step of the way. The embassy also urged Singaporeans in the region to stay in contact with local missions and follow official instructions, emphasizing that such proactive measures are part of the government’s contingency planning for citizens overseas.
