KUWAIT CITY, May 4: As part of joint inspection efforts, the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department, carried out a campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of multiple containers used for storing used vehicle tires intended for resale in the local market. Authorities confiscated around 1,200 tires of various sizes during the operation.

Investigations revealed that the suspects were illegally reselling used tires as new after tampering with their expiry dates using specialized materials, constituting commercial fraud and consumer deception. Officials warned that such practices pose a serious threat to road safety due to reduced tire performance, increasing the risk of traffic accidents and endangering lives and property.

A seizure report was filed under the charge of possession or sale of used tires in violation of Clause (5) of Article (16) of Ministerial Resolution No. (216) of 2024. The accused have been detained and referred to the competent authorities for legal action, including deportation.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued enforcement campaigns in coordination with relevant agencies to combat commercial fraud and protect consumers, stressing strict application of the law against violators.
