DOHA, Feb 15 : The second edition of the Amir of Qatar Grand Prix for Shotgun kicked off on Friday at the Lusail Shooting Complex in Doha, with the participation of around 250 shooters representing 34 countries. The first day of the tournament, which runs until February 21, featured official training for the skeet competition across four categories: men, women, youth, and young women. A total of 66 shooters participated in the men’s category, 14 in the women’s category, 16 in the youth category, and 5 in the young women’s category. The official skeet competitions will begin tomorrow on five fields, where shooters will compete by shooting at 75 plates distributed across three rounds. The competition will then continue on Sunday with two rounds of 50 plates, each consisting of 25 plates per round. The top six shooters will qualify for the final round, where they will compete for the top three positions. The competition will conclude with a ceremony to crown the winners. Following the conclusion of the skeet competition, the trap competition for all four categories will begin next Monday. Shooters in both the skeet and trap competitions will compete for podium positions and championship prizes. The Qatar Shooting Federation has allocated valuable prizes for the winners, amounting to 122,000 euros (approximately 128,000 US dollars). (KUNA)
