Shooting Grand Prix kicks off

Kuwaiti performers on stage during the opening ceremony of the 8th Amir’s International Shooting Grand Prix.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s 8th International Shooting Grand Prix got underway at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex on Saturday, featuring 420 shooters from 42 countries.

Governor of Farwaniya Sheikh Faisal Humoud Al-Sabah, who represented His Highness the Amir, said His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad’s auspices of the Grand Prix reflected keenness of the political leadership on supporting athletes.

Director General of the Public Authority for Sport Dr Humoud Fulaiteh wished all shooters best of luck in their competitions.

He urged local clubs and federations to pay further attention to improving skills of players because the lifting of ban on Kuwait sport was approaching.

Competitions, which will start tomorrow Sunday, include 10m air rifle, 50m pistol, trade and air pistol.
