DUBAI, Aug 21: Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell sharply on Thursday, with just seven crossings recorded, half the previous day’s total, Reuters reported, citing initial data from analytics firm Kpler.
The data showed four commodity vessels entered the strategic waterway, while three ships exited.
Among the vessels leaving the strait was a very large gas carrier carrying propane and butane, which exited via the Iranian route, according to the report.
The sharp decline in crossings highlights continued disruption to shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy transit route.
