KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The Kuwait Shooting Sport Club has concluded the first championship of the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Olympic Shooting Academy for the 2026-27 sports season, held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex with strong participation from young male and female shooters.
The closing ceremony featured the presentation of trophies and medals to the top performers in the various events, as well as prizes and certificates for participants and winners.
Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Secretary-General Obeid Al-Osaimi, Kuwait Shooting Sport Club Vice Chairman Sheikh Sabah Salman Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, members of the technical and administrative teams, and a large crowd of shooting fans attended the ceremony.
Al-Osaimi said Kuwait has a wealth of talented and promising young shooters, noting the growing interest in the sport among Kuwaiti youth.
He explained that the club seeks to identify promising talent through competitions before developing their skills and training them in Olympic shooting disciplines under the guidance of national team coaches. The objective is to prepare them for the club’s competition program in the upcoming season and future international commitments.
Al-Osaimi said this year’s academy competitions form part of an integrated development program, building on the strong results achieved by the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Olympic Shooting Academy over recent years.
He noted that the academy has helped discover and develop numerous talented shooters, several of whom have gone on to represent Kuwait at the national team level.
The secretary-general added that the academy continues the "Shooter 2000" project, launched in 1998 with the support of Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and under the direct supervision of Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, Honorary President of the Kuwait Shooting Sport Club.
