KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: Honorary President of the Kuwait Sea Sports Club, Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, emphasised that Kuwait’s hosting of the penultimate round of the 2025 XCAT World Powerboat Championship marks a milestone that reflects the nation’s growing commitment to developing marine sports and strengthening its international presence.
Speaking at the ceremony—attended by Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sport Bashar Abdullah, representing the Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi—Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak highlighted the significance of organising such a major global event under ministerial patronage and with the supervision of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM). Delegations from participating countries, racers, and Sea Sports Club members were also present.
Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak noted that Kuwait is proud to host this international championship, stressing the key role played by the Sea Sports Club and the Supreme Organising Committee in bringing world-class marine sporting events to the country.
He added that Kuwait’s powerboat racing heritage stretches back to the 1980s, when local racers began making their mark on global competitions. The Sea Sports Club held its first local championship in 1981, paving the way for decades of organising regional and international tournaments, backed by strong government support and consistent official attention.
The second and penultimate round of the 2025 XCAT World Championship concluded the day before yesterday. HIP Fujairah claimed first place in Race 2, followed by Victory 7 in second and TEAM GP in third.
