KUWAIT CITY, March 8: Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, confirmed that the suspension of sports activities was necessary due to the exceptional circumstances in the region, emphasizing that the safety of athletes and fans remains the top priority.
In remarks to Al Arabiya, Al-Nasser said the committee is closely coordinating with relevant authorities and will resume sports activities as soon as conditions improve and stability returns, expressing hope for peace and security across the region.
The suspension, announced on March 1 by Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma, applies to all sports events and competitions nationwide as a precautionary measure to protect players, fans, and the broader sports community. Official competitions, tournaments, and public sporting activities across all disciplines will remain on hold until further notice.
Clubs have paused daily training sessions, though some continue remotely through home workouts or fitness facilities to maintain players’ physical conditioning during the suspension.
