A meeting chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace on Thursday brought together Iraqi and US delegations to discuss security and defense cooperation, regional developments and ways to strengthen coordination and stability.
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah chaired a meeting on Thursday at Bayan Palace with delegations from the Republic of Iraq and the United States of America. According to a ministry statement, the meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Interior Ministry Undersecretary Maj. Gen. Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib, representatives from the Ministry of Defense, and various diplomatic, security, and military officials. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination with both the Iraqi and American sides. He highlighted the need to strengthen security and defense cooperation to address shared challenges in light of regional developments, thereby serving mutual interests and contributing to the region’s security and stability.
The statement noted that the meeting reviewed aspects of cooperation and ways to enhance them, discussed topics of mutual interest, and facilitated an exchange of views regarding the regional situation and current developments. It further explained that the meeting addressed various security and defense issues of mutual interest and the existing coordination among the participating parties, aiming to foster integration, the exchange of expertise, and support for efforts to consolidate security and stability in the region. The Iraqi delegation was led by the Director of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. AbdulAmir Al-Shammari, while the US delegation was led by Commander of the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, Admiral Liam Hollen.(KUNA)
